Paul Poiret (1876-1944) is generally recognized as the first "modern" fashion designer, and his influence on 20th-century fashion was profound. The fully lined Cocoon Coat offered here was designed around 1913-1919. It features bat wing sleeves, one-piece front/back body, neckband, and a hobble skirt. The style is timeless and looks just as stunning over a T-shirt and leggings as over evening clothes. The Reticule (drawstring bag)is typical of the same period. The easy-sew pouch closes with decorative cording and is embellished with a tassel that hangs from the bottom. Suggested fabrics: Coat - Medium to heavyweight fabrics with drape, such as velvet, silk charmeuse, heavy rayon, or jersey. Reticule - Same fabric as Coat, also satin and blends. Fabric requirements: 45" wide Sm & Med 4 1/2 yds, Lg & XL 4 5/8 yds. 60" wide Sm 3 3/4 yds, Med & Lg 3 7/8 yds, XL 4 yds. Lining: 45" wide Sm 3 1/2 yds, Med & Lg 4 yds, XL 4 1/4 yds. Reticule & Lining: 3/8 yds all widths. Poiret Cocoon Coat pattern by Folkwear. Sizes S-XL.
